vbartilucci: It’s not the sugar, as I learned it, but the act of drinking.  Sometimes you’re hiccuping because of blockage in your pipes - the drink clears it. That’s strange. I’ve tried desperately drinking straight water and juices when I’ve had hiccups before (also plugging my nose and drinking), but that’s never worked for me unless it’s been the sugar water.
